Privacy Policy

How Athena Tactical collects, uses and protects your personal information, in line with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

Last updated: June 2026

Athena Tactical (“we”, “us”, “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This policy explains what we collect, why, how we use and share it, and the rights you have under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). It applies to our website and to any orders, enquiries or accounts you create with us.

1. Who we are

The responsible party is Athena Tactical [registered name / registration no.], [physical address], South Africa. Our Information Officer can be reached at privacy@athenatactical.co.za.

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect: your identity and contact details (name, email, phone, delivery and billing address); order and transaction information (products purchased, order history and payment confirmations — card payments are processed securely by our payment provider and full card numbers are not stored by us); account details if you create an account; communications you send us, including trade and bulk enquiries; and technical data collected automatically (IP address, device and browser type, and usage data via cookies and analytics).

3. How we collect it

We collect information directly from you when you place an order, create an account, contact us or subscribe; automatically through cookies and similar technologies as you use the site; and occasionally from service providers such as our payment processor and courier partners.

4. Why we use your information

We process personal information to fulfil and deliver your orders and provide customer support (to perform our contract with you); to manage your account; to prevent fraud and keep the site and our customers secure (our legitimate interests); to comply with legal, tax and regulatory obligations; to send you marketing where you have consented; and to understand and improve our products and website.

5. Direct marketing

We will only send you electronic marketing where you have given consent, or as otherwise permitted by POPIA in respect of existing customers. Every marketing message includes an easy way to opt out, and you may withdraw your consent at any time.

6. Who we share it with

We share personal information only as needed to operate, including with our payment processor, courier and delivery partners, email and marketing platforms, and IT, hosting and analytics providers, as well as professional advisors and, where legally required, regulators or law-enforcement authorities. We require these operators to protect your information and to process it only on our instructions. We do not sell your personal information.

7. Cross-border transfers

Some service providers may store or process information outside South Africa. Where this happens, we take steps to ensure your information receives a level of protection comparable to POPIA, as required by section 72 of the Act.

8. Cookies

We use essential cookies to make the site work (for example, your cart), and analytics and preference cookies to understand usage and improve your experience. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings; disabling some cookies may affect how the site functions.

9. Security and retention

We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, unauthorised access and misuse. We retain personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes set out above, or as required by law. When no longer needed, information is securely deleted or de-identified.

10. Children

Our website and products are intended for adults. Firearm-carry products are intended only for lawfully licensed adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.

11. Your rights under POPIA

You have the right to access information we hold about you; request correction or deletion of inaccurate, irrelevant or excessive information; object to processing; withdraw consent where processing is based on it; and not be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing. Contact our Information Officer to exercise these rights.

12. Complaints and contact

If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, contact us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa). Questions about this policy can be sent to privacy@athenatactical.co.za.
